Our Master Perfumer
The best way to continue a legacy is to create your own
Purvi Jain grew up around fragrances. At her grandparents’ ancestral home in Kannauj, India (known fondly as the Perfume City), is where little Purvi and her cousins spent their childhood summers. The air lingered with the whiff of leftover spices; the ground was always laden with petals.
Years later, Purvi has taken on the mantle of our Master Perfumer. Her journey through the hallways of the Mumbai University’s Biotechnology Engineering Department, the Florida Institute of Technology’s Masters in Biological Sciences Department and Harvard University’s Management Technology & Innovation has led her here, to the helm of one of India’s most respected names in perfumery. A name to which she is now contributing her manufacturing expertise, technological nous and fragrance artistry to not just keep pace with, but to set global trends in the business.
In her own words, Purvi attributes the rise of her star to learning from the best, whether it was Dr. Andrew Palmer’s esteemed laboratory at the Florida Institute of Technology or the host of world-renowned economics scholars she encountered during her Harvard semester. Striking the perfect balance between creativity, technology and entrepreneurship is what drives her success today.
Old factories passing their olfactory recipes down multiple generations is a commonality among the various family-run businesses in Kannauj. But Sawai’s Master Perfumer has created her own unique recipe for business success that sets them apart.
