Our Story

For nearly 6 decades, artisans under the banner of Sawai have painstakingly pursued perfection in the art of perfumery. We know that perfection is impossible to achieve. We also know that aiming for it is the only way to unmatched excellence. Through this obsessive chase for perfection, we have been changing the perfumery game with constant innovations, consistently far ahead of their time - be it in harvesting, extracting or manufacturing.

We set out on the perfumer’s chase of excellence when Mr. Sawailal Jain set up his first hydro-distillation plant for attar production in Kanauj, India, in 1965.

We pride ourselves in being one step ahead. In 1984, while the competition was still figuring out the local market, we went international. Later, we diversified our offering to accommodate the fragrance needs of different global markets.

As it stands today, brand Sawai, led by Purvi Jain (Master Perfumer and granddaughter of Mr. Sawailal Jain), our brand has become the spiritual leader of the Indian fragrance market. Customers find the unique aromas of Sawai lingering in most commonly fragrant household items. Since 1965, the science of perfumery has evolved and its art has blossomed. And it is the fingers of our artisans that have shaped the world of fragrance as it is known today.
